Research Interests
Our assumption is that the development and improvement of therapeutic concepts evolves from research that is directed towards an understanding of physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms. Scientific work at the Molecular Biology Research Laboratory is spurred by the intention to better understand molecular and cellular processes that underlie pediatric disorders. Main interests are the modulation of FOXO transcription factors by small compounds, the connection between ROS, mitochondrial fusion / fission dynamics and metabolism in normal and malignant neuronal cells and 3D bioprinting / tissue engineering. We believe that by developing innovative 3D cell models, novel culture techniques and 3D bioprinted tissue surrogates we will achieve patient-specific models for the prediction of drug efficacy and significantly contribute to the reduction and replacement of animal experiments.
