MUI Lecture Series

As part of the MUI Lecture Series, applications for help with travel expenses can be made to the Vice Principal for research and international affairs of MUI institutions. If the application is approved, MUI will finance the travel expenses of the guest (2nd class train journey or economy flight) as well as max. two overnight stay in Innsbruck. In total, funding should be provided for up to six lectures per year. Please note that each department may submit only three applications per year.

Deadline: 31st January and 15th June

The following information/documentation is required:

  • Informal cover letter (1 A4 page)
  • Timetable for the lecture and supporting programme
  • Projected cost budget
  • CV of the speaker incl. list of publications (if available)


The Vice Principal for research and international affairs will select the lectures for which funding is provided, considering and taking a positive view of the following points for the selection:

  • Scientific excellence of the speaker
  • The research focus of the speaker corresponds to the research focuses of MUI (oncology, neuroscience, genetics, epigenetics and genomics, infectiology, immunology & organ and tissue replacement)
  • Lectures as part of the Eurolife Distinguished Lecture series (speaker works at one of the following institutions: University of Edinburgh, Leiden University Medical Center, Universitat Barcelona, Trinity College Dublin, University Medical Center Göttingen, University of Strasbourg, Karolinska Institutet)
  • Lectures with a special reference to gender
  • Lectures by female researchers with exceptionally successful careers (women in science; e.g. ERC grant holders)

The following should be taken into account when organising the lectures:

  • The organisation of the lectures (invitation of the speaker, reservation of the premises, organisation of doctoral and postdoctoral seminars with the speakers, social event) is the responsibility of the institution making the application.
  • Standard flyer/poster formats will be used for advertising. The organising institution will receive the templates from the research service and innovation department.
  • Expenses for the event will be paid through the research service and innovation department. Please use this expenses form.
