Autonomy and Neurodegenerative Diseases Conference in Zürich on September, 2nd and 3rd 2024
Martina Schmidhuber and Mario Kropf (both Health Care Ethics, University of Graz) organized an interdisciplinary conference on autonomy and neurodegenerative diseases together with Daniel Lucas (Practical Philosophy, ETH Zurich). Martina Schmidhuber presented the ethics sub-project of the MeDeMSA-FG and discussed questions of ACP in neurodegenerative diseases with Stefan Lorenzl (SAB of MeDeMSA), among others, in a public panel discussion.

The MeDeMSA Team Members of the Innsbruck Dysautonomia Center attended the 10th congress of the European Academy of Neurology on June 29 - July 2, 2024 in Helsinki and drove the spotlight on the diagnostic and care needs of people with MSA.

The MeDeMSA team mourns the loss of our highly esteemed colleague and mentor Univ.-Prof. DDr. Gregor K. Wenning MSc, who passed away on February 11th, 2024, shortly before his 60th birthday. Gregor K. Wenning was the Head of the Innsbruck Neurobiology Unit, Founder of the Innsbruck Dysautonomia Center, Founder and President of the Bischof Dr. Karl Golser Foundation and of the Austrian Autonomic Society. Above all, Gregor was a talented scientist, a mindful mentor, who tutored generations of neuroscientists in Innsbruck and abroad, and a passionate doctor.
We will miss Gregor's visionary way of thinking and commit to honor his memory by carrying on our mission to care for people living with multiple system atrophy and other autonomic nervous system disorders.

MeDeMSA Expertenworkshop on October 9th 2023
Expert workshop MeDeMSA working group
On October 9, 2023, the expert workshop of the MeDeMSA (Medical Decision Making in MSA) working group focused on the theme of 'MeDeMSA: HTA-supported medical decision making in MSA.' The event was hosted at Innsbruck University Hospital and led by Assoc.-Prof. Beate Jahn (UMIT TIROL), with the participation of national and international experts. In the project, a decision analysis will assess MSA diagnostics and treatment for both standard care and personalized best medical care, including telemedicine. The established interdisciplinary Standing-Expert Panel, comprising experts from the Universities of Innsbruck, Graz, London, UMIT TIROL, as well as Tirol Kliniken and i-HTS - International HealthTechScan, provided insights for decision analysis and the Health Technology Assessment Framework.
A follow-up workshop is planned for 2024.
Congress of the European Federation of Autonomic Societies, Oktober 6th 2023
The Innsbruck Dysautonomia Team at the 2023 congress of the European Federation of Autonomic Societies in Dubrovnik, Croatia on October 6th. Team members talked about the latest research on the prodromal stages and treatment strategies for MSA.
