Among a high-precision magnetic navigation system on base of our Rhinospider Technology visual and auditory paradigms will be used for intraoperative surgical guidance. Experimental validation will proof the benefits of the technology.

Quantitative surgery

Description: Exploring ways to provide certainty of resection borders by merging computer vison with computer-assisted intraoperative navigation, This project will integrate three-dimensional reconstructions of a surgical site obtained from live surgical views into preoperative imagery (CT, MR) and planning. “Real-time” reconstructions will be superimposed on volumetric data to allow determining the amount of tissue resected. Computer vision will be integrated to open-source IGSTK-based intraoperative navigation with a tracked Leica stereo-operating microscope for stereo-augmented reality guidance of surgeons.Funded by the Austrian National Bank, Jubilee Funds Project 16154 (2015 - 2018).
